A cautionary story for transport workers emerged after a taxi driver posted a video detailing how an individual passenger allegedly dodged a 300-baht fare. The driver transported the passenger from a residential area in Khlong Luang, Pathum Thani, to a factory located in the Navanakorn Industrial Estate. The passenger reportedly claimed they needed to step inside to request leave from work and visit a hospital, asking the driver to wait, before disappearing entirely.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:00 PM on September 30. The driver emphasized that while the amount was relatively small, every baht matters to daily wage earners. He urged the individual to cease such practices and formally filed a complaint at Khlong Luang Police Station for legal pursuit.

In an online statement, the driver expressed frustration that someone would cheat working people during challenging economic and flood conditions, stating that had the passenger genuinely lacked funds, he would have gladly offered the ride for free.

After the post gained traction, the human resources department of the company where the passenger was reportedly employed commented that the company had accepted the grievance and would expedite an investigation. Simultaneously, other social media users surfaced, claiming the same individual had previously engaged in deceptive borrowing schemes and fraudulent workplace sales in other factories.

The employer’s HR team subsequently contacted the driver, stating that management was aware of the footage and offered to cover the unpaid fare on the employee’s behalf. The driver expressed gratitude to the company for taking responsibility and taking disciplinary action, emphasizing that the misconduct was an individual matter rather than the company’s fault.

Belton Industrial (Thailand) also issued an official statement addressing the matter, expressing regret over the incident, reiterating its corporate commitments to integrity and personal accountability, and stating that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken in accordance with company regulations.
