Lawyer Tum Urges Cyber Police and DSI to Probe Gun Jomphalang

The public rift between high-profile attorney Sittra “Tum” Biabungkerd and well-known social activist Kanthas “Gun Jomphalang” Pongpaiboonvech has intensified, with both sides escalating legal challenges and public allegations against each other.

Attorney Tum detailed that the conflict traces back approximately two years, alleging that Gun had previously requested him to halt an investigation into a politician accused of online gambling ties. He further claimed that during the opening of his new law office, the politician visited alongside Gun and handed over 100,000 baht in cash, which Tum stated he initially resisted before it was placed in his bag—sparking mutual mistrust over motives and political connections.

On October 6, 2026, Sittra, acting as Secretary-General of the People’s Lawyer Team Foundation, formally submitted a petition to the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB). He requested an inquiry and legal action against Gun concerning an audio clip allegedly promoting online gambling, alongside a request to trace associated financial trails and websites.

Sittra stated that while multiple issues were previously submitted to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), he forwarded the gambling solicitation aspect to cyber police as the direct authority. He maintained that the audio, sourced from a 2019 YouTube clip predating widespread generative AI technology, distinctly features Gun’s vocal mannerisms promoting promotions and foreign card dealers for an online casino platform.

Additionally, Sittra urged authorities to examine financial flows linked to Gun’s foundation, alleging that roughly 700 million baht had entered foundation accounts and requesting verification on how those funds were transferred or utilized. He also raised allegations concerning suspected nominee accounts linked to administrative staff relatives, urging account holders to clarify their positions before the DSI.

Sittra emphasized that the dispute should move beyond social media bickering and into transparent judicial scrutiny, noting he planned to disclose further information regarding border-area activities on his broadcast program.
