Automotive Influencer Confronts Garage Over Year-Long Delay and Lost Engine

A confrontation unfolded at a vehicle workshop in Pathum Thani when automotive influencer “Yai V10,” accompanied by an attorney, arrived at the shop of mechanic “Chang Kit” on behalf of a car owner seeking the return of a classic American vehicle left unfinished for over a year.

The vehicle’s owner, an overseas-raised Thai national, sought assistance after paying 280,000 baht toward an estimated 500,000-baht restoration bill. Despite the passage of substantial time, work remained incomplete, prompting concerns regarding the whereabouts of the vehicle’s original parts.

During the site visit, an argument broke out between the parties, leading to physical pushing that required officers from Pak Khlong Rangsit Police Station to step in and prevent a brawl. The garage refused full entry to the influencer’s team, allowing only attorney Bomb to inspect the premises alongside police officers.

Upon inspection, the car’s original engine could not be located. The mechanic claimed that the owner had previously authorized the engine’s sale for 6,000 baht to treat workshop staff to drinks, an assertion Yai V10 contested, stating that recorded chat logs revealed no such agreement. The mechanic also offered a partial refund of 140,000 baht, arguing that expenses incurred for body repair, paint, transport, and labor prevented a full refund, while noting he had assessed daily parking fees.

Yai V10 declined the partial settlement, advising the mechanic to reserve the funds for legal defense, and formally lodged a police complaint alleging the unlawful disposal of the original engine.
